William S. Poole, III (Bill)

Poole, III (Bill) is a member of the Alabama State Bar Association, the Tuscaloosa County Bar Association and the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws. Bill is licensed to practice before the U.S. District Courts in the Northern, Middle and Southern Districts of Alabama. Bill’s practice areas include general civil litigation and trial practice, business law, construction law, family law, employment law, municipal law, and property law. Bill represents individuals, businesses, insurance companies, non-business entities and the City of Brookwood in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama, where he serves as City Attorney and City Prosecutor.
In 2010, Bill was elected to serve House District 63 in the Alabama House of Representatives. This important district includes the University of Alabama and much of the City of Tuscaloosa. He is the chairman of the Tuscaloosa Delegation, a member and subcommittee chairman of the House Judiciary Committee and a member of the House Ways and Means Education Budget Committee. He is also a member of the National Conference of State Legislatures Education Committee and the Council of State Governments Committee on Suggested Legislation.
Bill attended the University of Alabama Culverhouse College of Commerce and earned a B.S. in Business Management and a minor in English. Following graduation Bill began his professional career as a Staff Assistant for the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Ways & Means, as an International Trade Analyst for the international law firm Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg, P.A. in Washington, D.C., and as an Assistant Manager for Federal Affairs for the Pharmaceutical Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) in Washington, D.C. Bill returned to the University of Alabama to attend law school in 2001 and was admitted into the Alabama State Bar Association in 2004. Upon obtaining his Juris Doctorate, Bill served as an Associate for the law firm Rosen, Harwood, P.A., the largest full-service law firm in West Alabama, before becoming the sole owner of The Poole Law Offices in 2006. In January 2010, Bill co-founded the present firm of Gilmore and Poole, LLC. In January 2011, the firm name changed to Gilmore, Poole and Rowley, LLC, upon the addition of Adrian Rowley as a partner.
Bill was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, and grew up in the Black Belt in rural Marengo County, Alabama. Bill is married to Niccole Poole, and has two children, Sally and Bill IV. The Pooles attend First United Methodist Church in Tuscaloosa. Bill is involved in several community groups, including the West Alabama Chamber of Commerce and as a member of the Board of Directors for the Boys and Girls Clubs of West Alabama.
